Life and Enrichment

Life at Normanton House School

At Normanton House school, we aim to provide an inspiring educational experience within a caring and secure Islamic environment embedded with the values of discipline and mutual respect which extend beyond the school into the wider community. Pupils are encouraged to develop a strong Islamic character and achieve their spiritual, moral, social and educational potential. We expect the most exemplary standards of conduct and contribution to school society. A broad programme of extra-curricular activities enables pupils to do this whilst having fun, working in teams, and exploring their own interests in life.
A strong sense of community, both within the school and beyond the classroom, nurtures a spirit of kindness and understanding. Normanton House School pupils are happy, joyful and caring in their outlook.

The school curriculum encourages pupils to play an active part in school and community life, and make a positive contribution to society. Personal development is encouraged in a variety of ways. Pupils enjoy being elected to the school council, learning about other religions by visiting their places of worship and helping out at the local care home for the elderly.
Taking on such responsibility helps them to develop a social conscience and prepares our pupils for the transition to secondary and higher education.

Enrichment and Extra Curricular activities

At Normanton House School we are committed to the holistic development of our pupils and value the importance of providing our pupils with an array of experiences. Our extra-curricular activity programme provides pupils with the opportunities to try their hand at a variety of different activities and take learning beyond the curriculum.

We have an extensive after school Hifz programme for both the primary and secondary schools, which runs from Monday to Thursday during term time. Some of our students have memorised as much as between 10-15 Juzzof the Quran by the time they leave the secondary school MashAllah. The annual Quran competition is a much anticipated local event.

At Normanton House School, we offer our pupils a variety of activities in order to provide them with a broad and holistic learning experience. Students in the primary school have swimming lessons, tennis lessons, football club as well as nasheed club. Students in the secondary school have maths club, homework club and recently initiated reading club.

School trips are aimed at enhancing and broadening the topics being covered in school. Throughout the time at our school, your child will have the opportunity to experience the wider world and visit various places within different subject areas to widen and develop her understanding of the topic he/she is covering.

In addition, there are several reward trips and spiritually enhancing trips that are also organised for pupils to attend.
Throughout the six years at our primary school, your child will have the opportunity to visit the church, gurdwara as well as the local Mosque and care home for the elderly. This year, our students visited the lovely Trentham Gardens.

Throughout the five years at our secondary school, your daughter will be taking part in the annual Geography field trip for GCSE students, career fairs, as well as the much anticipated annual trip to the Big Bang Fair.

The Big Bang Fair is the UK’s largest celebration of STEM( science, technology, engineering and maths) for young people. These trips help to bring science and engineering to life for our students and encourages them to take part in STEM initiatives. This year our GCSE students also visited the local theatre to watch a theatrical representation of ‘Macbeth’, one of the texts they are examined on in their English Literature exam.
